How Raphael became the Prince of Painters

The lecture covers the career, style and impact of the Renaissance master painter, from his prodigious childhood in Urbino, to the Princely reputation he enjoyed in Rome. Helen will explore early works of the artist, as well as discussing the vast frescos in the Vatican and his other major work. Discover the truth behind his competition with Michelangelo, his shocking death, and how this artist became the celebrated Prince of painting, honoured with a burial in one of the most remarkable buildings in the world.

All the lectures start at 10.30am promptly and last for an hour. Free tea and coffee is available from 10am prior to the start of the lecture.

Annual membership will be £45 during 24/25. The guest fee will be £8 per lecture.
